About Mini Mansions

WHY MINIATURES?

Some people have always had a fascination with little things - they are naturally drawn to miniatures. Others may want to provide the creative play that dollhouses can provide for their children. Imaginations can soar with fantasy themes, nostalgic roomboxes, historical re-creations, elaborate gardens, or any aspect of our God-given world. Crafters, collectors, quilters, woodworkers, and decorators have long enjoyed the challenge of miniatures.

Illness, loss of a loved one, loneliness or physical disabilities may be eased through involvement in miniatures. Shifting the mental focus onto a project can reduce the stress & pain for many people. Therapists, spouse abuse centers, girls' clubs, preschools & more have used the "play therapy" of miniatures to uncover & help treat physical & emotional abuses of children in a non-threatening way. Our shop & local club have donated houses, time, & expertise to needs in our community and beyond.

Space for this hobby is as varied as the project itself. From a shoebox to a semi-truck, miniature creations range from one inside a lipstick tube to the replica of the Whitehouse which fits in a semi & has been displayed internationally. Common scales range from 1/144, 1/4", 1/2", and 1"to a foot. Most beginners start with 1" to a foot but the size of the houses & roomboxes vary tremendously. Mini Mansions tries to help its' customers find the area which best fits their goals.
Age is another wide variable in the field of miniatures. From 3 - 103, all ages can enjoy. Mini Mansions has playable furniture & sturdy houses for the young child as well as collector furniture & accessories for the mature miniaturist. We have long believed that the miniatures hobby definitely spans the generations.

Miniature artisans display as much talent as their equivalent in the world at large. Once the artistry of miniatures is discovered, most people are awed. Whether needlework, painting, floral arranging, landscaping, porcelain dollmaking, or woodworking is your talent - a smaller version of these awaits you!

THE MINISTRY OF MINIATURES

Can miniatures be a ministry? Since 1986, I have been involved in the "business" of miniatures. My main focus is on the customers - listening, encouraging, teaching, & helping each customer find what he or she needs to complete a project. Whether working with young people, parents or seniors, I enjoy the interactions & seeing "the lights go on" as they explore & experience the world of miniatures.

Although the beauty of miniatures is amazing, nothing can compare with the incredible majesty of God's creation. Belief in Christ & his death on the cross for our sins - are what I consider to be foundational - the rock upon which our lives are lived. Our joy of miniatures should never outshine the joy we find in living our lives for Christ.

The healing power of prayer can be so powerful and can help a person through many trials as I experienced first-hand in 2016 upon the sudden death of our 36 year old daughter, Lynn. She epitomized living a Christ-centered life as she was raising 6 children (3 adopted) and serving her husband, family, friends, & others in a real-life mission field each day of her life. Her memory still influences me & many others as well as missionaries around the world so that God may be glorified. John 3:16

MONEY AND MINIATURES

The reality of miniatures does not mean a person needs to be wealthy to enjoy. Some customers have made miniature houses & furniture from salvaged wood & ingenuity. Shoeboxes, found materials, & imagination are often the beginnings of a person's love for miniatures. Garage sales, thrift shops, & sales at local miniature stores can provide more for your money. A wide price range has always been a priority at Mini Mansions.
